“If I kill a deer, I take its horns. And if I kill a German soldier, I take his uniform”. The German genocide on the Ovaherero and Nama tribes in Namibia happened 110 years ago. It was only acknowledged as such by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2015. Ghosts of the past, both literal and figurative, haunt the present as the Ovaherero and Nama tribes ceremonially relive the genocide and the trauma of the German colonial rule.
