OFF23 Programme

Brand new competition

60secondscircusfilm is a brand-new international competition for circus films with the duration of only one minute, initiated by DYNAMO Workspace and OFF – Odense International Film Festival in Denmark.

THEME

“Circus” can be widely interpreted: As artistry, ideas, inspiration, narrative, wild physicality and hugely specific details. Just as contemporary circus itself, we wish to set this first edition of the competition free from restrictions and genre-definition but ask you to be creative and curious towards the opportunities the mash up between film media and circus art present.

What happens when the circus body enters the screen? Which opportunities arise when highly specialized tricks meet the ability to bend time? What modes of expression does film represent, and how do they correlate with the infinite expressions of circus?

Capture this in 60 seconds, and you’re free to enter the competition!

OFF film wins an Oscar

We are enormously proud and happy that the short film The Long Goodbye by Aneil Karia has won an Oscar for best live action short. The film won the Grand Prix at OFF21 which is Oscar qualifying, meaning that the film can be sent straight to the Oscar Academy. The fact that the film won an Oscar is a huge blow stamp of our festival, and we are thrilled to say the least. Congratulations to the entire film crew.

We are OFF – but still ON

The OFFice is closed, but we are still working from home.

As a measure against CoVid19 the Danish authorities have ordered all public servants who do not perform critical functions to be sent home until March 30th, and since OFF – Odense International Film Festival is arranged by the municipality of Odense, we will all be working from home answering e-mails and telephone calls (+45 30581617) as normal.

Take care of each other.

Love OFF
